Edith Ruiz was born in Mexico city; she got a degree in Communications Science and she comes from a family of artists. She started her professional drawing and painting studies in Mexico City in 2012. Shortly after, she developed her passion for the pastel technique and decided to travel to Spain and Italy, to take portrait painting workshops taught by world renowned, European pastel masters. This has become an accustomed practice, and Edith continues perfecting her technique, periodically attending workshops in the old continent.
Such quality and detailed paintings earned Edith to be selected as a member of two relevant international pastel associations: ASPAS–Spanish Pastel Painters and PASIT Pastellisti Italiani Italian Pastel Associoation), both of which she continues to be a member to date.
Pastel realism is the predominant trend in her paintings. What stands out in her work is how it transmits the light and essence of each character displayed in the canvas. This has earned her work to be in the preference of spectators, and present in several private collections.
